Intercultural Communication
Our communication styles are deeply influenced by our cultural backgrounds. This course demystifies the complexities of intercultural communication and helps participants to know about the differences of various communication styles. They will gain practical tools to manage conflicts, communicate with clarity and convey messages. We also look into the challenges when speaking English as a foreign language in business and social conversations.
Example:
I worked with an international team from a Swedish manufacturing company to improve communication with its Korean supplier. Their challenge was to manage requests and achieve the results they desired. We examined the pitfalls of using English as a business language, how conflicts are managed, and how requests are understood in different cultures. We analyzed how requests and expectations are formulated and how this can create misunderstandings.
As a result, the team gained a deeper understanding of how their communication style impacts the Korean team. The client adjusted their communication strategy to establish a clearer dialogue with the Korean supplier.
